The day-0 trial email is the single highest-leverage email in SaaS. The new user is at peak attention. Most trial emails waste that attention with feature tours.
**'Skip the tour' is the headline move.** Most onboarding emails want to explain the product. The strong move is to skip the explanation and point at one action. The product explains itself once the user does the one action.
**Concrete time estimate.** '90 seconds' lowers perceived effort. Vague effort estimates ('quick setup', 'in just a few minutes') don't move users. Specific ones do.
**One action, named.** Not three actions, not a checklist. One. The activation rate lifts when the new user knows exactly what to do and nothing else competes for attention.
**Reply prompt.** 'Real humans answer this address' commits you to actually answering. Don't ship this template if you won't. Trial users who reply are unusually engaged and convert at 2–3x baseline; ignoring them is leaving money on the table.
